How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

At the time of application, we had six dogs who had been in foster care ranging from four months to two years. On average, our dogs are adopted after three months. Four of the dogs were larger dogs, which take longer to adopt. The reduced adoption fees helped create an incentive to adopt these dogs. We are happy to announce that all dogs have been adopted!

The highlight of the adoptions was Thelma, who spent 949 days in foster care with our rescue. Thelma was abandoned in a dry river bed in Mexico and left to die when she was only a few days old. She came to our rescue in Canada when she was 6 months old.

Thelma had a great foster who was willing to care for her until she found the perfect home. We promoted Thelma widely on social media, had a special photo shoot for her, and in the end, she met her future forever family at a city-sponsored dog event.

We are thrilled that Thelma finally found her forever home!
