CARE Humane Society: No Fee/Low Fee All Love Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
CARE Humane Society utilized this grant as an opportunity to offer a "Foster Adoption Special" for dogs. All dogs who were in foster or went into a foster home during the month of June were eligible for the low-fee adoptions.
Twenty dogs were adopted from our care during the window of this special. Initially, the discount was offered for cats as well. After getting hit hard by kitten season, we were overcrowded and running out of space for the constant flow of kittens and cats that were coming into our facility daily.
We made the choice to extend the offer to all cats, regardless of foster status. This allowed a total of 62 cat adoptions to take place during the entire month of June. The low-cost fees offered were $10 for all adult/altered dogs (in foster) and cats and $75 for all un-altered animals, $50 of which was eligible to be refunded when in compliance with our post-adoption spay/neuter contract and county policy.

A large majority of our long-term residents (also known as our “Lonely Hearts Club”) are in the care of long-term foster homes. One such dog was the wonderful CiCi (first photo)!
CiCi had been winning hearts since the moment she arrived at CARE. She came in as a stray with more than half her body missing fur, but even then, she greeted everyone with pure love. From day one, she was a certified cuddle bug, proof that her spirit stayed bright even though her past was rough.
Over more than 300 days in care, most of that spent in the home of a dedicated foster, CiCi made an incredible transformation. Some of her coat grew back, her confidence blossomed, and she was more ready than ever to find her forever family. As CARE’s longest resident, she’d been patiently waiting for someone to finally see her for the gem she was.
CiCi adored people and attended many off‑site events hoping to catch the eye of her future family. She lived in long‑term foster with other dogs and was an exceptional house guest: polite, affectionate, and full of personality. She loved being outdoors, even if it meant wearing a little sunscreen to protect her sensitive skin. Whether she was frolicking around the yard or snuggling in for a marathon of The Pitt, CiCi was happy as long as she was with her people.
One such person finally came along for CiCi!
CARE utilized the Foster Adoption Special as an opportunity to promote CiCi in hopes of finding her a forever home. She caught the eye of her soon-to-be mom, Sarah! It was love at first sight for CiCi and Sarah. After 331 days, CiCi had finally found her forever home (second photo). This is just one of many stories for animals who benefitted from this low-fee adoption special!
