Washington County Animal Shelter: Purina and Amazon Treats for the Holidays Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the product in two main ways: We were able to offer the treats as an incentive to adopt cats, increasing our cat adoptions; we also used the treats in our enrichment program for our cats. We offered treats in a variety of different enrichment toys to stimulate the minds of the cats in our care.

Adoptions increased and the cats seemed happier and healthier.

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 25-30 cats -- all the cats in our care from December to February.

The entire cat population was affected by the grant. All cats and kittens in our care were given treats in a variety of ways to help them become more social. We also used the treats in conjunction with toys that the cats would spend hours playing with. Our cats seemed happier and healthier as a result. The cats seemed to be adopted more easily, as well.
