Humane Society of Marion County: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

12 bags of Purina Dog Chow from Chewy.com.

We had difficulty at the beginning of the COVID pandemic finding the Purina Dog Chow we normally purchase at local stores. We are an all-volunteer organization, with many of our volunteers being elderly, so it was not safe for them to shop in physical stores, either. The Purina Dog Chow online was approximately .61 cents a pound more than locally, so this grant helped us make up the difference in the cost that was associated with COVID and help our beloved fur babies and our cherished volunteers as well.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Gunther is a sweet Australian cattle dog mix who was found by a citizen on a road dumped, scared, and covered in fleas and ticks. He was brought to our shelter and we immediately knew he was a very special dog. He is very intelligent and loves to go for walks. He is housetrained and does very well on a leash. He is still for adoption, but we are hopeful he will be adopted in the near future. He is a precious fur baby. You can meet him here.
