Humane Society of North Central Arkansas: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The funds were used to purchase cleaning supplies, necessary cleaning materials, and pet food for shelter animals in foster care and the shelter.

This grant helped us keep the dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in the shelter cleaned and fed during the pandemic when we needed it the most. The pandemic caused our thrift store to close for two months; our thrift store is our main source of income.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant was helped approximately 100 animals.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Reuben, a.k.a. Romeo (first photo) was adopted as a puppy but returned to the shelter as an adult. He spent six months at the shelter, and because of the pandemic, adoptions slowed down. This grant helped keep him fed and cleaned daily during the pandemic. He has now been adopted and is happy to have a family of his own.

Baxter, Briggs, and Barrett (second, third, and fourth photos) are a litter of babies whom were born in a foster home, they entered the shelter when they were big enough to be vaccinated. The pandemic slowed their adoption time, Briggs and Baxter have been adopted, however Barrett is still looking for his forever home. This grant helped keep the clean and fed during their neediest time.
