How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was instrumental in the adoption of six dogs from the shelter. The grant dropped the adoption fee on five dogs from $100 to $10 and a sixth dog was adopted for $50 -- but he was in our Lonely Hearts Club, so his adoption fee was $0. He was a Lonely Heart because he had been with the shelter for more than six months.

Sissy (first photo) was found as a stray and surrendered to the shelter. She was not reclaimed and she stole her new mom’s heart.

Angel (second photo) was surrendered because she was part of an accidental litter and the owner had too many to keep. Her new dad was thrilled to take her on life’s journey.

Jake (third photo) was found as a stray and had likely been shot and left for dead, but he was so resilient that he survived. His new dad heard his story and opened his life to give Jake all the love he had been missing out on.

Spunky (fourth photo) was transferred in from a rescue that pulls dogs from high-intake shelters in Arkansas. He was a tiny little love but was riddled with coccidia and giardia. With some TLC and medication, he got to feeling better and eventually found a new mom.

Luna, a.k.a. Sweet Pea (fifth photo), was adopted as a puppy but returned because she liked the family’s chickens too much and wouldn’t leave them alone. Her new family was ready for a new baby for the children to grow up with.

Beau, a.k.a. Baba (sixth photo), was transferred into the shelter from another organization. He got adopted but was returned after five years. He spent 10 months at the shelter waiting for his new forever family. It was discovered that he has painful knees and would require daily pain management. His new mom fell in love and took a chance on him thanks to this grant.
