Butte Humane Society: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helps the pets in our care because KONG toys are great resources for enrichment when staff and volunteers are unable to spend one-on-one time with a dog. We don’t leave other toys in dog kennels as the dogs can tear them apart, which can lead to the dogs ingesting pieces of toys and cause health issues. We feel confident leaving KONGs in kennels unattended because they are durable and our staff doesn’t have to worry about our more aggressive chewers ripping them up and ingesting them accidentally.

One dog whom this grant has helped immensely is Cody! Cody is a 1-year-old mixed breed (akita, shepherd, pit bull, and American bulldog). He is a solid boy, weighing 87.6 lbs.! Cody is a complete softie, but has a lot of energy. He is a powerful chewer and can get bored easily, so having a safe toy like a KONG to give him makes a world of difference.
Cody has yet to be adopted, but we know his forever family is out there. It is our joy to care for him and love him until the day he goes home!
