How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The product, pet lounging pads, are currently being used at crate pads for transport to events and adoption events bi-weekly. These pads are plush and thick and hold up well in the wash. They allow our rescue dogs to ride and arrive in style and comfort, even when some are very timid to get into the crate and the car.
This donation has helped give some comfort to our dogs who have to be transported to and from adoption events every other week. Some dogs we've had in our care for over a year. The little amenities that help put our pooches at ease allow them a soft spot to play and lie on while they are in transit or sitting in their crate during adoption days.

One little pooch named Ian (first photo) was abused; we pulled him from Harbor Animal Care Center in February 2016. Poor Ian had multiple injuries, but the worst of all were the scars we could not see: his fear and anxiety of new people, especially men. The P.L.A.Y. pads helped with a little bit of comfort while en route to his first adoption event ever –coincidentally, the first place he met his forever mom! Ian is now enjoying life with Chelsea and her family in Gardena, CA.
Hershey (second photo), a scared pit bull mix who was abandoned in the Coachella Valley, loved his P.L.A.Y. Chill Pad so much, as it stood up to his slobber, rugged play, and even his licking/chewing when he was being crate trained! Today, Hershey is the happiest, most perfect pittie in all the land and enjoying a life all rescue dogs should get: a real home in Hermosa Beach, CA, with a loving mom and dad whose world revolves around Hershey!
Janet (third photo) also loves her Chill Pad; she would lounge on it daily at her foster home! Janet knew it was her “place” when her P.L.A.Y. Chill Pad was positioned on the couch. She felt special, and nested right on it! Janet was a perfect little doll from the moment we rescued her from Harbor Animal Care Center, and she continues to be a good girl in her forever home in Redondo Beach, CA!
The best thing about P.L.A.Y. Chill Pads is that, not only do they give a BIG slice of comfort to formerly neglected, abused, and abandoned rescue dogs, but they are recyclable for our rescue group. They touch many of our dogs as each one leaves on his or her journey to greatness, then the Chill Pads are washed and disinfected and used for another precious soul who has just joined our rescue group. Thank you to P.L.A.Y. for helping us give our dogs all the comfort of home, even when they are waiting for their forever homes in our rescue group!
