How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

I received $45 through the Sponsor a Pet program (thank you!) and we bought a drag bag for Lady Bug so she wouldn't have to get sores on her legs. She is paralyzed.

Lady Bug can be mobile without her cart in the house where it's narrow.

Paralyzed dachshund Ladybug was left by her owner to die at [an open-admission] shelter. Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles saved her just in the nick of time on New Year’s Eve. Her new year has been off to a great start, but she has a long way to go to get stable and healthy. Lady Bug is not a surgical candidate, according to DRLA veterinarians, but she may eventually walk again with the use of a cart and extensive therapy. A cart will help her with proprioception (placing her feet) and to build up her muscles. Physical therapy, chiropractic treatments, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, laser treatments and supplements may help her walk again or, at the least, build her strength for the best possible outcome and chance at a forever home.

DRLA currently has seven dogs with IVDD (Intervertebral Disk Disease) in various stages of treatment. Medical costs are high for these dogs. We need your help to get these beautiful dogs healthy and into loving forever homes, and to allow us to save more at-risk dogs at shelters.
