The Animal Rescue Mission: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Funds from this grant go directly toward offering reduced adoption fees to adopters. These fees help us to cover a portion of the medical care and rehabilitation fees for each animal. This reduction in fees will be an incredible opportunity for more people to adopt and also a powerful
marketing opportunity to get the word out about adopting in Los Angeles.

The more people who know about ARM, the easier it is to provide animal-care information and increase awareness about the importance of adopting from rescues and shelters as opposed to buying from pet stores and breeders.

The ability to offer reduced-cost adoptions is essential during this time when families are financially struggling with inflation. Reduced-cost adoptions are incredibly helpful for families who were deterred by the initial investment. That was especially the case for Dalton. Please see his wonderful success story below.

How many pets did this grant help?

500

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Dalton, a 30-lb. German shepherd puppy, and his two siblings were found in a junkyard in Bakersfield, Calif. They all had anaplasmosis (a tick-borne disease) and were terrified of humans from having been isolated so long, eating scraps to survive.

We at The Animal Rescue Mission got them all better and healthy and Dalton was adopted by an amazing family that had adopted another shepherd from A.R.M. a year ago.

The family has a beautiful home and yard and they really wanted another shepherd for their other shepherd to play with. The family has the means and home to care for these angels, but times have definitely been a little tough, so we helped Dalton by lowering his adoption fee. When a home this perfect arrives, we need to make sure Dalton is fully supported by us.

Here is a post about Dalton before he was adopted: https://www.facebook.com/profile/100044276671740/search/?q=Dalton

Dalton’s new name is Jiro. He’s getting stronger each day and he is so happy and so spoiled!
