Momma Jen's Fosters Cat Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Petfinder Foundation Enrichment Grant made a meaningful and immediate impact on Momma Jen’s Fosters, allowing us to better support some of our most vulnerable intakes, including abandoned kittens and nursing mama cats with their litters. With the help of this grant, we were able to create dedicated nursery spaces equipped with essential supplies to keep both moms and babies safe, warm, and comfortable during those critical early weeks of life.
These thoughtfully prepared nurseries not only improved outcomes for fragile kittens, but also significantly reduced stress for the mother cats, giving them a secure environment to care for their babies. As a result, we’ve seen stronger weight gain, healthier development, improved socialization, and smoother transitions into adoptive homes.
In addition, the grant allowed us to incorporate enrichment items into our adoption events. Providing age-appropriate toys and stimulation helped highlight each kitten’s personality, encouraged positive interactions with potential adopters, and created a more engaging and enriching experience for both the animals and our community.
Overall, the Petfinder Foundation Enrichment Grant has strengthened our ability to provide high-quality, compassionate care while increasing our kittens’ chances of finding loving, permanent homes.

Mama Dolly Parton (first photo) arrived in our care with her newborn “chart toppers” — Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and Mitchell Tenpenny — after doing everything she could to keep them safe in an unstable environment. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Enrichment Grant, we were able to immediately place this vulnerable family into a fully equipped nursery space designed to support developmental needs during their most critical stage of life.
With access to proper nesting areas, heating support, and enrichment items, Mama Dolly was finally able to relax in a calm, low-stress environment and focus on caring for her kittens. The transformation was evident: her babies steadily gained weight, met key developmental milestones, and began positive early socialization in a safe and supportive setting. Enrichment tools also played an important role in building confidence and encouraging natural behaviors as they grew.
As the kittens matured, these same enrichment resources helped us showcase their unique personalities at adoption events, allowing potential adopters to form meaningful connections. One by one, each of Mama Dolly’s “chart toppers” found loving, permanent homes. After raising her litter, Mama Dolly also found her own forever family, transitioning from a life of survival to one of comfort and care.
This family’s journey is a direct reflection of the impact of the Petfinder Foundation Enrichment Grant. We are deeply grateful for this support and for the tools it provided, not only to save lives, but to ensure each one had the opportunity to truly thrive.
