House Rabbit Society: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

House Rabbit Society raises funds to help cover rescue and veterinary costs for rabbits from the euthanasia lists of local shelters, including spay/neuter, and to find loving forever homes for them.

Many of the rabbits placed on euthanasia lists at shelters are those who have significant medical needs that municipal shelters can't afford to treat. House Rabbit Society fundraises to cover the cost of this care -- donations we receive literally save lives!

We received three sponsorships for Ender through the Petfinder Foundation’s Sponsor a Pet program. Ender came to us from the euthanasia list of a local shelter. He had medical problems. He was diagnosed with a parasite called e Cuniculi and suffers from a number of issues, such as overgrown teeth, weepy eyes, and granulomas in the brain that cause cognitive problems. With donated funds, HRS is able to help Ender get the ongoing care he needs. We have also been able to find a very special foster person who has helped us administer care — and who may adopt him as well! Ender’s life was saved with help from the Petfinder Foundation!
