Elena, a young pit-bull mix, was at the shelter for a combined 220 days before finding her forever home during the grant period. When she first arrived, she was very scared and had to spend extra time getting socialized before being placed for adoption. She was then returned twice, both times after being aggressive with other dogs once she settled into her new home. During her third stay at HHS, a staff member fostered her for several weeks before Elena finally found the right family.
