Ark-Valley Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kia Pet Adoption Grant helped to fund half-price pet adoptions for all cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens at our shelter. This support in resulted in 19 animals being adopted into loving homes, a 111% increase in adoptions compared to this same period of time the previous year. This helped to alleviate space constraints our facility is currently experiencing.

Hermione came to Ark-Valley Humane Society as a found stray. During her health exam, our staff suspected she might be pregnant. An ultrasound from our veterinarian later confirmed that Hermione was expecting puppies! Soon after, she delivered seven healthy puppies while in foster care. After spending the necessary time growing and preparing for their next chapter, Hermione’s puppies returned to the shelter to receive additional medical care, including spay and neuter procedures, before being made available for adoption. We are happy to report that all seven puppies have since found their loving homes!

Hermione continued to receive the care she needed until she was also ready for adoption. During the 2025 Kia Pet Adoption promotion, a family came to AVHS and fell in love with Hermione. After her long journey at the shelter, Hermione was able to find a happily-ever-after of her own.

We are so grateful to the Petfinder Foundation and Kia for their generous funding, which made stories like Hermione’s possible. Their support not only helped many families welcome new furry family members into their homes, but also created much-needed space at our shelter, allowing us to help even more animals in need.
