Longmont Humane Society: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant was able to provide us with an additional tool for enrichment, which is especially beneficial to the cats we house who may be a little shy or fearful of humans in general. With this grant, we can check in to see how the cat is doing periodically without causing undue stress from direct human contact.
How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Cammy is one of the cats we have who takes quite a bit of time to warm up to people and prefers to hide over interacting with humans. She is in a large colony room and gets interacted with daily by our special Red Cat Volunteers and certain staff members, but this grant was able to provide an alternative to interacting with Cammy!
By using the pet-camera treat dispenser, we can work more with Cammy on getting her used to people’s voices by using the microphone and distributing treats accordingly. It’s a small thing, but such a wonderful tool to be able to interact with the cat and provide some enrichment without stressing her out completely.
She is still waiting for her forever home, but we are hopeful that this grant will help provide her the enrichment she needs while she is with us. And who knows? It might just catch the eye of a special adopter!
