Halfway Home Rescue, Inc.: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

HHR recently received a COVID grant. The $500 grant was used to purchase two weeks worth of cat litter and canned cat food for our shelter.

We are grateful for the Petfinder Foundation's support. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, many of our spring fundraisers and donation drives have been canceled. This generous grant allowed our volunteers to provide cat litter and canned food to the cats currently in our care.

How many pets did this grant help?

73 cats were provided canned food and litter thanks to this grant

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Due to COVID-19, both of our adoption venues are closed (PetSmart’s adoption center and a local cat cafe). The centers house between 25 and 30 cats at any given time. All cats from the centers were returned to foster care during this quarantine period. We have been hosting adoptions by appointment and 19 of the cats have been adopted. I’ve attached photos of the kitties previously housed at our adoption centers currently awaiting adoption.

The first photo is of Hoss. From his Petfinder profile: “Hoss is a sweet boy who came to our shelter from death row at an overcrowded pound. When he arrived, Hoss had suffered a bad eye injury which eventually led to needing it removed. He is feeling so much better without the painful eye! Hoss gets along well with other cats. Hoss is frightened by dogs and needs a home without them.” Meet Hoss here.
