Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to reduce the adoption fees for some of our “harder-to-adopt" cats – the ones who often get overlooked – by having this grant awarded to us. One of the cats we were able to get adopted had been with us for 567 days (one year, six months, and 18 days)!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Selina (first photo) came to us in June of 2023 – over a year ago! We rescued her, along with several of her housemates, from a very sad hoarding situation where there were more than 70 cats. All the cats were sick and needed extensive medical care, in addition to needing to be fixed and vaccinated.
Selina’s favorite thing to do was cuddle and groom other cats she shared space with. Although she was shy with humans, she slowly started coming out of her shell and seeking out attention from volunteers (once she was comfortable).
Due to her past living situation, Selina was what we would call a chronic “snuffler” and would probably always have this condition. We added immune supplement to her wet food daily, which seemed to help.
Thanks to this grant, we were able to reduce her adoption fee in hopes of finding her a special forever home.
On Dec. 21, her new family came to meet her at the shelter, fell in love with her, and took her home.
It’s only been a few days but here is her update from her adopters: “Selina is absolutely adorable and adores love. She has been very comfortable in her cat tree. Cannot thank you and your team enough for connecting her with us. Merry Christmas!”
