How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used these funds to purchase food and medical supplies for animals in our care.

Because of COVID, our revenues from adoptions fees and intake fees are very low. These are funds used to support animal care. The Petfinder Foundation dollars helped support the animals in our care.

You helped Grampy find his way home! While the pandemic shuttered businesses and kept people home, the elderly owner of 11 Chihuahuas was hospitalized and no longer able to care for her pets. Because of donors like you, SPCA Tampa Bay was able to step in, bring the dogs to the shelter, and provide much-needed medical and behavior care.

One of the pups was 8-year-old Grampy. Weighing in at only 1.8 lbs., he needed round-the-clock care to overcome several serious medical issues. His tiny size made it very important that his medication was administered properly. Over the next four weeks, an SPCA Tampa Bay team member cared for Grampy in her home and office, and we all watched him overcome small obstacles and show big improvement each day.

During her volunteer shifts, long-time volunteer and SPCA Tampa Bay ambassador Valerie Brehm couldn’t help but notice tiny, mighty and adorable Grampy, and fell in love. Because of you, Valerie’s family now has four extra paws and big love for a tiny guy.
