Cats Exclusive, Inc.: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed us to offer free adoptions for a limited period of time in accordance with the guidelines established for the Pet Samaritan Fund, a subsidy feature within our clinic to help people with limited financial abilities keep their pets in their homes without facing the choice of surrender.

This adoption program from Kia and the Petfinder Foundation made for a welcome complement to the Pet Samaritan Fund. During the past two months, we used the $1,250 granted to provide 21 no-fee adoptions to people who needed this extra boost. Our normal adoption fees that were waived are $85 for kittens and $50 for adult cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Taylor and her boyfriend, Chuck, work together at our local Home Depot. The employees at the store are always bringing stray kittens to us and we always accommodate their needs as good neighbors.

It’s a double win for us that the store turns this around and supplies our shelter with goodies when they have materials we can use to keep the shelter spiffy.

Taylor and Chuck brought us a litter of kittens a few months ago and then just couldn’t keep away. They finally succumbed to the cuteness and adopted two of their rescues for themselves (first photo).

Two other happy going-home photos are also above. The second photo shows a very gratifying senior-to-senior placement, Martha and Lily.
