The Runaways Animal Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Runaways Animal Rescue is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable animals in our community, including special-needs animals and those who are critically ill or injured. The Petfinder Foundation Emergency Medical Grant provided the lifeline Runaways Animal Rescue needed to ensure that a severely injured kitty, now known as Chopstick, received emergency medical surgery.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Chopstick was found dragging her back legs behind her. She is believed to have been hit by a car. It was very quickly determined that Chopstick needed immediate pain relief from this traumatic injury and emergency surgery.

Because of the assistance and support from the Petfinder Foundation, Chopstick received a fracture-repair surgery of her right pelvis. Chopstick was able to heal and recover for a full 12 weeks, per post-surgical veterinary instruction, in the care of one of our dedicated medical foster homes.

It takes a village to save a critically injured animal and the Runaways Animal Rescue is so thankful that the Petfinder Foundation was there for Chopstick when she needed it most.

Chopstick is still waiting for her forever home. You can meet her here.
