Purrfect Peaches Cat Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the assistance of the Petfinder Foundation Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Purrfect Peaches Cat Rescue had 20 happy families taking home a new furry family member! With the grant, adoptions were discounted during the week of Nov. 6, especially on Veterans Day weekend. Adoptions were discounted $20 and the rescue always discounts an additional $10 to veterans with military IDs, first responders, and EMS.

Thank you, Petfinder Foundation! These adoptions allow us to save 20 additional lives from local shelters.

A kitten shower, Sweet as a Peach, was held in conjunction with adoptions on Veterans Day Saturday with a gender reveal. The community enjoyed voting boy or girl and a winner received a $25 gift card. It's a boy! Little Kris Kringle was our 4-week-old gender-reveal kitten.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant will help 20 cats be rescued from the shelter. This opens space at the shelter so that euthanisation will not be necessary.

Karen was looking for a companion for her older cat, who had lost his kitty friend. She wasn’t sure she was ready to adopt again, but heard Spruce’s (first photo) story when she stopped by adoptions. She decided Spruce would be the perfect new family member (second photo)!

When Spruce was spayed, the clinic thought she may have a medical issue that would require surgery. Upon re-evaluation by another veterinary practice, an x-ray was taken and it was determined that the issue did not exist.

Purrfect Peaches Cat Rescue placed Spruce for adoption and we couldn’t be happier for her! Karen will be sending us updates and we can’t wait to see Spruce grow!
