Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc.: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant enabled us to purchase a much-needed incubator. We have needed an incubator, as we often rescue newborn kittens and puppies who are either orphaned or too ill to remain with their mothers. It will also help with older animals who need intensive care in a climate-controlled environment. This incubator will be a lifesaver for many years to come.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We are often called upon to rescue medically fragile kittens and puppies, often only days old. Newborns are not able to maintain their body temperature and can struggle to survive. In the past, we have kept them warm with heating pads, warmed rice bags, and even in the shirts of our dedicated staff!

The incubator allows for a constant temperature and humidity to give these little ones the best chance at survival. The incubator arrived just in time to help four motherless kittens, aptly named the Toaster Kittens! They were only two weeks old and had upper-respiratory infections.

With the help of the incubator and an amazing foster, Waffle, Toast, Pop Tart, and Bagel not only survived but thrived!
