Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Earl’s history with us begins in December 2021, when he was picked up as a stray by our county’s Animal Control Officers.

In January 2022, Earl was at risk of euthanasia at the County of Hawaii Animal Control facility, so we transferred him in to our care through our lifesaving partnership.

Earl is a senior hound dog who likely knew a life as a hunting dog. Upon coming into our care, our veterinarians evaluated him and learned that Earl had multiple masses and other medical needs, including arthritis.

For the past year, Earl has been living in a foster home. His foster caregiver has fallen in love with Earl! They have a regular routine and enjoy each other’s companionship.

Earl’s foster caregiver is a single adult on a limited income. While Earl has been in the care of HIHS, we have been providing for all of his needs. We informed Earl’s foster caregiver of the very generous grant that we received from the Petfinder Foundation. We are now in the process of working with her to finalize Earl’s adoption!
