How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Magicats, Inc. extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Petfinder Foundation for their generous grant of $1,000. This incredible gift made a huge difference for one of our busiest and most dedicated foster homes — an amazing volunteer who opens her entire home to care for approximately 180 cats and kittens each year.

Thanks to this grant, we were able to replace most of the worn-out and well-loved items that had served countless cats over the years. Each room in the foster home now features a new, large, solid-wood cat tree — sturdy enough to withstand years of climbing, scratching, and play. The cats also received new cubbies and a variety of scratching options, including cardboard scratchers; tall, carpeted posts; scratch mats, and donut-style tunnel scratchers.

This grant has also given comfort to the foster kitties, who now enjoy soft new beds, including two orthopedic beds specially chosen for senior fosters who need extra comfort and support.

To encourage play, we added catnip and silvervine toys, wand toys, and Churu treats — perfect for building trust, administering medication, and rewarding positive behavior. Feliway plug-ins were also placed throughout the home to help create a calm and stress-free environment.

This grant helps to support our cats in transition. For those who must spend time in kennels, we purchased a Kuranda bed to add vertical space and comfort, helping them feel more secure during their stay.

Your generous grant has truly revitalized a foster home that serves as a safe haven for hundreds of cats each year. The new items not only improve the daily lives of the cats in care but also support the foster’s ability to continue providing exceptional love and attention to every feline guest.

We are incredibly grateful to the Petfinder Foundation for their support in helping Kit Kat, a special senior cat who has captured our hearts.

Kit Kat came into our foster care after losing her previous special human. At 10 years old, she had spent her life outdoors, but her loving and affectionate nature told us she was ready for something better. We knew this sweet girl could adapt to life as a comfortable indoor-only pet with the right care and patience.

After a medical wellness exam, we learned that Kit Kat tested positive for FIV (an immunodeficiency virus) and needed a full dental procedure due to her poor dental health. Despite these challenges, Kit Kat has shown us what a beautiful, lovely soul she is. She just needs time to learn that people are kind and that living inside is the safest place for her in the future.

Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to create a dedicated 4×8 kennel area just for Kit Kat, complete with her very own cat tree, cat cubby, scratcher, and bed. This special space has given her the comfort and security she needs as she gains confidence and slowly adjusts to indoor life. Every day, she’s making progress (we use Churus to help, as well) and we know that when she’s ready, she’ll find the perfect forever home with her next special human to give and get love.
