How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Partners for Pets used this money to help run adoption promotions on animals who had been in the shelter for a period of six months or more.

The funds granted to Partners for Pets through the Petfinder Foundation helped animals who were slightly less adoptable than others find their forever homes. Partners for Pets was able to reduce the adoption fees of 10 cats and dogs by $100 to add an extra incentive to adopting these specific pets.

Partners for Pets rescued a kitty named Thompson from St. Clair County Animal Control in January 2018. Thompson was suffering from a severe wound to his leg, in addition to being feline leukemia-positive. Oftentimes a diagnosis of feline leukemia will prevent a humane group from rescuing a cat, leaving its likelihood of survival very low. Partners for Pets wanted to give Thompson a chance at the life we all knew he deserved, a life in a home. Once Thompson’s wound was healed and he was stable, we placed Thompson up for adoption. Thanks to the promotion we were able to run, Thompson found a home very quickly and he is so loved. Thompson is living every day as a part of a family, and all of us here at Partners for Pets couldn’t be happier.
