Heartland Animal Shelter: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant award was used to hold a reduced-fee and fee-waived adoption event for the cats and dogs at Heartland Animal Shelter.

This grant made it possible for us to find loving homes for more cats and dogs than we could have otherwise, and promote some of our long-term residents for adoption! We used the funds from the grant to reduce or waive fees for 18 animals, but with the marketing done to announce the grant and event, we found homes for 63 additional cats and dogs just before and after the event as well!

How many pets did this grant help?

18 as a direct result of the grant funds

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Bobkat (first photo) is a senior cat who had been living outside in southern Illinois but was brought into a local animal control, sick and injured. His health issues soon resolved with treatment while in our care, but because of his rough appearance from his time outdoors, he was at the shelter for almost two months. He was finally adopted into a loving home during this adoption event!

Simon and Garfunkel (second photo) are two best friends who were impounded together at a local animal control. Because of their incredible bond, we were committed to finding them a special home willing to take in both of them. This affectionate duo found their new family during this adoption event as well!
