Precious Pets Almost Home Association: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant made a lifesaving difference for a cat in our care named Butch, who was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Without this support, providing the full course of treatment would have placed a significant financial strain on our foster-based rescue organization.

Because of this grant, Butch was given a true chance at life. Instead of facing a hopeless outcome, he was able to receive the medical care necessary to fight this devastating disease. Throughout treatment, Butch continued to show resilience, strength, and an incredible will to live. Seeing his condition stabilize and improve was an emotional and rewarding experience for everyone involved in his care.

As a 100% foster-based rescue, grants like this are critical in allowing us to say “yes” to difficult medical cases that many organizations simply do not have the resources to take on. This support not only helped Butch directly, but also strengthened our ability to continue helping vulnerable cats in urgent need of lifesaving medical care.

We are deeply grateful for the support that helped give Butch the opportunity for recovery, healing, and a brighter future.

This grant made a lifesaving difference for a cat in our care named Butch, who was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a once nearly-always fatal disease. When Butch first entered our rescue, he was critically ill and required immediate medical intervention, specialized medication, close monitoring, and ongoing veterinary care in order to survive.

The funding provided through this grant allowed Precious Pets Almost Home Association to obtain the critical medication Butch needed while also helping cover essential veterinary follow-up care throughout his treatment journey. FIP treatment is both emotionally and financially intensive, requiring consistent monitoring, supportive care, and careful observation over an extended period of time. Because we are a 100% foster-based rescue, support like this is vital in allowing us to take on severe medical cases that otherwise may not have had a chance.

Because of this grant, Butch was given the opportunity to fight for his life — and today, the transformation has been incredible. He has completed treatment, regained his strength, and the worst is now behind him. While he remains in the important post-treatment observation period associated with FIP recovery, he is healthy, thriving, and finally able to enjoy life again.

Butch is currently still in foster care and has begun attending adoption events as he searches for the right forever home. Watching him now — active, social, and full of life — is a powerful reminder of what compassionate support and access to medical care can accomplish. His journey represents hope not only for him, but for other cats facing serious medical challenges.

This grant did more than fund medication. It gave Butch a second chance at life and allowed our rescue to continue its mission of helping vulnerable cats receive the care, healing, and future they deserve.
