Quad City Animal Welfare Center: Play Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant provided warm, soft beds for the dogs and cats in our care. Some of the animals that come to our shelter are scared and need to feel safe. Providing them a warm bed is a very good start at making them feel loved. We know some of these animals have never had the comfort of a warm bed or even lived inside. Our goal is to make the rest of their life much better, and this is a great way to start.

How many pets did this grant help?

40 cats and dogs

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Stella is a female Pit Bull mix who came to our shelter in May 2023. She has been diagnosed with a ligament leg injury by our shelter veterinarian, Dr. Stacia. We currently have her on pain medication and she can only go for short walks with our volunteers. We feel that providing her with a soft, warm bed helps lessen the pain in her leg, and she does like to sleep on the soft bed.

Stella is still at our shelter and available for adoption. One of our volunteers just took her for a photo shoot with a local photographer.

You can meet Stella here.
