Muncie Animal Care & Services: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We have struggled daily to keep the animals stimulated and active while they are waiting to be adopted. The toys that were purchased with grant monies can be enjoyed over and over, as they are are sturdy and washable, in addition to enriching our dogs in their kennels. Since our dogs also have daily outside time, the installed canopies in the corners of the play yards will help the dogs enjoy the outdoors longer and not be in constant direct sunlight. Both of these will also encourage potential adopters to interact and spend more time with our dogs.

How many pets did this grant help?

Enrichment toys and canopies for shade will help aroun 900 dogs.

Rudy (first photo) is a very sweet dog who came in as a stray. He is friendly and does enjoy active play. Visitors came to the shelter and played with him using some of the interactive items purchased with the grant. They have put in an adoption application and are awaiting approval. Meet Rudy here.
