HELP The Animals, Inc.: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We make sure that every pet is spayed or neutered before going up for adoption, and this grant helped us defray this never-ending expense. Adoption fees do not cover our entire cost per animal, making grants like this essential for us to pursue our life-saving mission: Humane Existence for Lost Pets. We have our own surgical room and a local vet and vet tech who work for us 2–3 days per month for much lower than their standard rate, so this grant helped to pay for their time as well as surgical supplies, drugs, gas, etc.

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 12

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Taffy is one of the many unwanted cats abandoned at our shelter.

People frequently abandon unwanted pets after calling and being told that we have a waiting list and cannot immediately take their pet. This is not only illegal, it also deprives pet owners who act responsibly and get on the waiting list for a spot for their pet.

Taffy is young (18 weeks) and sociable, and hopefully will get adopted quickly now that he has been neutered.

You can meet Taffy here.
