How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We were grateful to get the grant of $500. This was used to pay medical and day-to-day expenses related to the care of cats/kittens for adoption.

We depend on adoption/donation fees to pay for the next in line. As a small rescue, we were not eligible for business assistance due to the fact that we run on volunteers and fosters and have no paid employees. During COVID time, we had half of the adoptions we usually get and the number of cats/kittens coming in did not slow. Being a small rescue, we depended on low-cost clinics, which were closed. This resulted in higher costs of food, litter, medical and spay/neuter. We also noticed that the food/litter sales were not available.

We apologize for not getting in on time. I am the one with information and was sick.

We had a brother and sister, Winnie (first photo) and Simba (second photo), who were ready to go out for adoption right as Covid hit and shut down so many businesses. We also had five litters of kittens that couldn’t get fixed due to vet shut downs. It took two to three months to catch up on spay/neuters and rabies. If you know kittens, every month they get bigger and it lowers their chance of adoption. Sad but true. Winnie and Simba have been adopted.
