Animal House Sanctuary: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Product was used for our rescue dogs for a variety of reasons. To name a few: rewarding, keeping them from stealing food, everyday treating for seniors, and positive-reinforcement training.

The KONG grant helps our dogs in different ways. It helps with food aggression, rewarding dogs after specific training, and helps our senior dogs who are hospice cases by being their everyday treat, and helps some of our dogs with positive-reinforcement training.

How many pets did this grant help?

At least five, if not more

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Prescott is a very food-motivated dog and a Kong keeps him from stealing from others and counter surfing. Caliber is an extremely smart dog and after his search-and-rescue training he is rewarded with a Kong. Buffy and Willow are two of our senior hospice cases and they enjoy their daily Kong as an everyday treat. Sweetie is a very nervous dog when it comes to being around other dogs. We use the Kong as a positive-reinforcement training method for her. She gets to enjoy her Kong after a pack walk.
