Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

The Kia grant provided much-needed support to cover medical services to prepare 30 animals for adoption. This funding was vital and was immediately put to use to save these animals from [open-intake] shelters and get them placed in forever homes. The impact will last a lifetime in dog years!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Canyon was one of a pack of dogs running the streets of a small rural community, most likely having lived her entire life outside.

She was taken to the local pound along with three others, covered in fleas, ticks, and filth. These dogs were terrified, had no social skills and needed to learn how to be dogs.

Once their stray hold was up, Always & Furever took them into our care. They began to slowly trust and relax a bit while given gentle pets. All were fully vetted, including spay/neuter and microchips, so they would be ready to go to a foster or forever home when the right fit was found.

Soon an amazing foster stepped forward for Canyon. Canyon quickly adapted to the comfort of a home, began to roll in the grass like a carefree dog, and started enjoying stuffies everywhere!

Her foster family decided she had made so much progress with their family and they had such a bond that they made her one of their own! She now has two fur siblings to show her the ropes of being a dog. Her family is so excited to see her come out of her shell and show her true personality: sassy and smart!

Always & Furever is so grateful that funding from the Kia Pet Adoption Grant covered Canyon’s vetting costs and helps support free adoptions. Thank you!
