Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KIA Pet Adoption Grant helped Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary remove the financial barriers associated with pet adoption by covering the adoption fees for each family interested in adopting one of our cats or dogs on their journey to finding a forever home. Fifty pets in our care were able to find forever homes.

How many pets did this grant help?

50

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sophia (first photo) came to us from Oklahoma City last summer. She was one of 13 dogs euth-listed on the same day for having a cough. We couldn’t let that happen, so we grabbed all 13 of them.

On top of her cough, Sophia also had very sore and raw eyes and needed entropion surgery for her eyelids.

While in our care, she made several furry best friends, but they kept getting adopted while sweet Sophia kept waiting for her furever family. Finally, her furever family came along (second photo) and now she lives in the snowy hills of Colorado and takes frequent road trips to the sandy dunes of Oklahoma (third and fourth photos)!

Sophia is such a lucky girl and is living the dream life she’s always deserved.

Sophia is one of more than 50 dogs and cats adopted through the generous support of the KIA Pet Adoption grant. Thank you, KIA!
