Cape Ann Animal Aid: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

During the early days of Covid-19, our shelter needed to close its doors to the public and reorganize how we care for the animals currently in our shelter, as we could not adopt them out for a short period of time. The $250 was used for operational expenses associated with caring for animals.

The $250 grant provided by the Petfinder Foundation helped us care for the animals that could not be placed into foster care immediately.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Fuzzy Slippers, an adult cat who had a grumpier side to him, was waiting for his special family to adopt him, but Covid-19 made adopting animals very difficult during the early days. Because Fuzzy needed extra attention and patience, it was determined that he would not be a great fit for foster care immediately and needed to be cared for within our shelter.

After receiving his health exams, vaccines, parasite treatment, microchip, and neutering within our shelter, he remained in our care instead of going to foster. The extra care he received during this time was crucial to his well-being and contributed to him finally finding his forever home.

We are most thankful to the Petfinder Foundation for helping our shelter with operational assistance during this time.
