Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc.: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
With the help of this grant, we were able to buy 80 ribbon wands, 80 catnip toys, and 80 cardboard scratchers. We are handing these out to our foster families, and will continue to hand them out as the year goes on. The cats will now get to play with these new toys with their humans, and help expend some of their energy, too! Many of the items that are currently in our foster homes are well-worn, so we are excited to get these new enrichment toys into their paws!
How many pets did this grant help?
80
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Shown in these pictures are Cabana, Sway, Lagoon, Tropicat, and Hula, whom we lovingly call the Tropical Kittens. They were born in our care after their mom was brought in as a pregnant stray.
This was their first experience with catnip, and they were loving it! Their foster family reports, “The kittens are having so much fun with their new toys! They are playing keep-away with each other; it’s funny.”
