TCC Cat Rescue dba The Cat Connection: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Cat Connection plans to purchase approved post-adoption items to give to the adopter for Sampson. These items would include toys, pet supplies, and other items that would aid the adopter in acclimating Sampson to his new surroundings and ease the transition period for both adoptive parent(s) and cat.

We plan to work with Sampson's future adopter to determine what exactly they will need for him so we can purchase and deliver it to them. In addition, we would like to be able to provide funds to the adopter for future approved medical expenses. Sampson is healthy, but we anticipate that he may require medical attention into his golden years.

This grant is allowing us to provide an incentive for someone to choose Sampson as their forever cat even though he is a senior. We have had trouble adopting him out – everyone wants kittens. We did recently get a request for him via Petfinder, so we hope this will pan out!

How many pets did this grant help?

1

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sampson is a friendly cat but he sometimes gets sassy – we need to find an adopter who can read his body language when he has decided he has had enough attention and needs to be left alone. That plus his age of 16 has made him a tougher adoption case. But we feel confident we will place him in a forever home soon! We have adopted out so many cats with age or behavior complications – we will find the right person.

Meet Sampson here.
