Carmah Cat Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped offset a sizable portion of an expensive emergency c-section for a mom cat, saving her life and the life of one of her kittens. Our organization is able to do fundraising to a degree to help pay for unexpected bills like this, but it takes wonderful organizations like the Petfinder Foundation to help us in situations like these and ensure we can continue our operations.

How many pets did this grant help?

It saved two cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had a mom cat in our care who was struggling during birth, having been in labor for an extraordinary amount of time. The vet determined she needed an emergency c-section to save her life and hopefully some of her kittens.

Her surviving kitten, Phoenix, became one of the shelter favorites. Her foster parents, who have cared for hundreds of cats and kittens over the years, said she was a one-in-a-million type kitten with her amazing personality, abundance of energy and an almost gratefulness to just be alive.

Phoenix was paired with her new best friend, Gracie, who was literally found living next to a dumpster. Somehow these cats know how lucky they are. They were adopted together and love their new forever home. Their new mom sends us regular updates and pictures and tells us she is so glad that she listened to us when we told her these two were special.
