We board and train all our rescue dogs before they are adopted, and we utilize Kongs during basic training. We also use them for crate training and anxiety management.

Kiki (first and second photos) came to us with some crate anxiety and “stranger danger.” We used stuffed, frozen Kongs in her crate to reduce her anxiety, with great success. She would train in the yard with them as well, which helped control her when we introduced her to strangers.

When she was adopted, she went home with her Kong, and her owner still uses it in the crate.
