Worcester County Humane Society: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Worcester County Humane Society used the money from this grant to help purchase food (Friskies canned food and Purina Naturals dry food) for our shelter cats.

Because of the pandemic, we had to either cancel or reschedule all of our spring and summer fundraisers. This caused us to lose roughly $70,000 that we depend on during that time period. We consistently house 150+ cats/kittens and 25 dogs. As you can imagine, feeding that many animals is very expensive. This money helped us to purchase enough cat food to last us about a month and a half.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of the cats helped by this grant money was Foo Foo. This sweet 6-year-old girl came to us after her owner passed away. Thankfully, Foo Foo captured the heart of a new adopter and, after spending five weeks at the shelter, she is now living her best life in her forever home.
