Canine Humane Network: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The money went to purchase food, senior-dog Kongs, senior-dog supplements, and an orthopedic dog bed for Gertie's adopter. This grant was a true incentive for Canine Humane Network to help entice an adopter for Gertie. This grant was really a huge blessing to Canine Humane Network. With the rising costs of vet care and spay/neuters and vaccines, there is not much left in the budget for things such as this, to help the adopter once the dog has left the rescue.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Gertie came into our rescue on June 7, 2021, and was looked over for almost four years. We had no idea why. She is a gorgeous, people-friendly, loving dog.
We applied for this grant from the Petfinder Foundation to purchase post-adoption items, which would include treats, food, and bed. Gertie is 7 years old and weighs 95 lbs., so providing some items to the adopter to get them through six months or more, I believe, helped get her adopted. The adopter was very appreciative of the items, as were we at Canine Humane Network.
