Oceana County Animal Friends: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped us get the amputation needed for Jolene, a sweet barn kitty who was found with her leg broken in half.

How many pets did this grant help?

The cost of the amputation was 1,300 dollars and this grant helped us cover a majority of that cost.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Joleen is a sweet barn kitty who was found with her leg broken in two places. She was very sweet and was already spayed. We received a quote of $1,300-1,500 from our vet to amputate her leg. We decided to get her leg amputated and then find a family to give her a forever home out of the barn.

The surgery was been completed and we helped her gain weight and get healthy. She only weighed 4 lbs. and you could feel all her bones. She was fostered until she was back at a healthy weight.

Jolene was adopted by an amazing family. She is going to home with two other cats and two other dogs. The couple that adopted her was looking for a cuddly kitty and Jolene is a lap cat. She will be spoiled and have all the best care needed for the rest of her life.
