Tyson's Place Animal Rescue: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received an All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration grant, which we used to provide microchips for our dogs Bitsy, Bosco, and Cream Puff, and to remove a wart from the head of Bosco, an adoptable terrier mix.

We consider microchips just as essential as vaccinations. They are an important form of identification and can be lifesaving if a dog goes missing. This grant helped cover the cost of microchipping all of our adoptable dogs. We also used the grant to cover the extra cost of having a large wart removed from Bosco's head.

How many pets did this grant help?

Three and counting - we will continue to use the grant to cover microchips

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Bosco (first photo) is a 14-year-old terrier mix that came into our rescue after his owner died in hospice. He was distraught for several weeks but slowly acclimated to his foster home and began to blossom. Routine walks with his foster parents allowed him to drop some extra pounds, and another grant allowed us to get his teeth cleaned and nine rotten teeth removed. Bosco also had a large wart above his eye that was becoming so cumbersome to him that he pawed at it or took every opportunity to rub his head against the ground or carpet. This unsightly lump was also discouraging potential adopters. Thanks to the grant, Bosco was able to have the wart removed during his dental cleaning. He had to deal with the stitches and a cone, but he has healed beautifully and now looks much younger than his 14 years. He is still available for adoption.
