HELP Humane: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the funds for supplies for 42 cats/kittens to go out to foster homes and we gave them all the supplies they would need.

25 adoptions came out of the foster homes that pulled the cats/kittens from the shelter. We had to cut down on the volunteers so the number of cats/kittens at that time was much lower so the cats/kittens in the shelter had enough caretakers to keep them cared for.

How many pets did this grant help?

42

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Trixie needed to be an only cat, as she was terrified of other cats. A woman inquired about fostering, but her husband said he did not want to spend any money because she had been laid off because of COVID-19. We told her about Trixie and how she needed to be an only pet (they had no other pets). She agreed, and for two months we made sure she had all the supplies needed for Trixie, including a litter box and scoop, litter, food and water bowls, and food both canned and dry. After two months, the woman hadn’t come for more supplies, so we contacted her and she said they had made the decision to adopt her. Trixie needed her fosters, but it ended up that they needed her just as much 🙂
