Eden Animal Haven: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped us adopt out 54 cats in November and December of this year. Six cats were adopted at events held at PetSmart and 48 were adopted at our shelter. The grant not only helped us facilitate adoptions but freed up room to take in more cats and kittens during the last two months of the year.

In late October, a woman witnessed a man take a carrier out of his car and set it on the side of the road after opening it. This was in a busy area near downtown Springfield, where the four kittens inside would probably have met an early death if the witness had not intervened.

We took them in on Halloween day and placed them with a foster, who named them after makes of cars. On Dec. 3, a friend of the finder adopted Kia (first photo) and Lexus (second photo) together, which seems like poetic justice: Kia was adopted with the help of a Kia grant! (The other two siblings, Dodge and Lincoln, were just adopted by one of our volunteers on Jan. 17!)
