Piedmont Pound Paws, Inc.: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Cat Enrichment Grant has created a larger, more comfortable, space via the catio we were able to purchase so that the cats can wait for adoption. There is now less stress on them, making them friendlier. It has also allowed us to save a few more as others are adopted.

How many pets did this grant help?

As of this report, there are 12 cats in the Cat House that the catio is connected to. They can lounge in the catio on nice days or during light rain.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Twiggie was found with two small, nursing kittens and the finder was threatening to dispose of them in a not-so-nice way.

We, of course, took her into the Cat House. Her kittens were eventually weaned and sent to the Kitten Room with a foster, after which Twiggie blossomed into a beautiful soft black furball. We’d had no idea that she was long-haired.

Twiggie got to experience the catio briefly before she was adopted, but she seemed relieved that all the others were not on top of her, as some were more assertive than she was. The adopter fell instantly in love with her and vice versa.
