How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
A portion of the money went to purchasing dog food for the pets under our care. We also have multiple dogs undergoing heartworm treatment and we were able to use some of the money for their medical bills.
The Covid-19 grant helped us to be able to continue taking in dogs who needed our help. We were able to purchase dog food in bigger quantities when we were afraid the stores were going to run out. We have gotten multiple unexpected vet bills when dogs turned out to be heartworm-positive. This grant helped us pay for some of the treatments for those dogs.

One of the pets this grant helped was Crooked. He came to us from a rural pound. At that time, we had already taken in a couple other heartworm-positive dogs and we weren’t expecting to take another so soon. Once he got here, he was retested and we discovered that he was, in fact, heartworm-positive. With this grant, we were able to pay for his final treatments so he would be cleared to find his forever family. He has a meet and greet set up, so fingers crossed he finds his family!
