How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money was used to cover Shadow's neuter, heartworm treatment, Metacam injections and adoption fee.

It helped him get his Metacam injections for his arthritis. It also helped us cover his heartworm treatment and paid his $200 adoption fee so it would help his adopter. It also helped us cover his neuter from when we first got him and paid to have it done.

Shadow is 10 years old and found his perfect furever home. From his Petfinder profile: “He is neutered and up-to-date on all of his shots. He is house- and kennel-trained. Excellent on the leash. Super easygoing, gets along with every dog he sees. Wants to be everyone’s best friend. Great with children of all ages as well. He is NOT a fan of cats. He enjoys walks and exploring. He is such a sweetheart and a happy little wigglebutt. His favorite thing to do is sleep, and he’ll lie down and snuggle with you with a little help to get on the couch. He loves butt and back scratches, antlers, pig ears, hanging out in the yard with his foster dad while he works in his shop, and rolling around being goofy in the grass. Once he settles in, you’ll have a best friend for life with this one.”

Update on Shadow:  “Shadow came to us early 2018 from Cumberland county animal shelter. He is 10 years old and his time was coming due. One of our amazing fosters stepped up for him. He had never been inside so she had to start fresh with him after 10 years. She was very patient and understanding though! He was surrendered for jumping the fence. In the time we had shadow, he never jumped fences or tried to escape his foster family. Sadly his foster family was facing PCS’ing so we had to move Shadow, he transitioned well. Shortly before hurricane Florence we were looking for a foster for him since his family had to evacuate. A new foster family stepped up, a few days later. They were considering adopting him from the start of fostering him! wishing a few days they confirmed they couldn’t imagine their home without Shadow. Before finalizing his adoption we made sure he didn’t have any medical issues. Come to find out, he has arthritis and would need apaquil injections weekly to help his pain and inflammation. He has settled wonderfully into his home with his fur brother!!”
