Johnston County Animal Protection League: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our cat adoptions dropped to almost zero when we had to pull them out of the adoption center during the stay-at-home order. We used this grant to pay cat vet bills in the interim so that they would be adoptable as soon as possible.

The grant allowed us to pay for spay/neuter surgeries for our cats. We also had one foster that required a rectal prolapse surgery, and this grant paid for that.

How many pets did this grant help?

Five: Four spay/neuter surgeries and a rectal prolapse surgery

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Maci is one of our foster kittens. She developed a rectal prolapse and had to have surgery. Unfortunately, her condition returned, and she needed a second surgery during the time we had no cat-adoption income because we had pulled all of our cats and kittens out of PetSmart. This grant paid for a second surgery for her. This surgery was successful. She has been adopted and is doing great.

The grant also paid for neuters for Chip and Dale. They also have been adopted.
