One Love Animal Rescue: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The funds we received through the Sponsor A Pet program allowed us to give Love the most comprehensive treatment possible for demodectic mange.

When we receive funds for medical expenses, it helps us continue moving forward in our efforts to rescue and save more animals because we don't get sidetracked as much by the sometimes-crippling costs of veterinary care.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant was specific to one puppy: Love.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We got word, just before Mother’s Day, that a mother dog and her two mangy pups were desperate for rescue. We stepped in to help, but one of the puppies was so very sick that she passed away before we could get her. We were able to rescue the heartworm-positive and mangy mom, Hope, and her sweet, but very sick, puppy, Love. Love was in rough shape when he arrived. He was dehydrated, weak, covered in Demodex (mange), and needing a ton of TLC. Over the next couple of months he received the best of the best in medical care, was neutered, received all of his shots, and finally was ready to be adopted. His foster mommy did an amazing job caring for him with the help of Mount Laurel Animal Hospital in Mount Laurel, NJ.

We are pleased to include photos showing the original shot we received of Mom and two puppies, Love’s picture at the hospital the first day we got him, a before-and-after of his progress after five weeks, and his adoption picture with his forever family!!

P.S.: Mommy Hope just finished her final heartworm treatment and as soon she is able, she will be spayed and adopted by her loving foster family! Happy endings all around.
